The Occasional Adventure: Sunday Evening Airboat Ride

I like to do things on the spur of the moment - I think that makes for the best adventures...

Yesterday, after spending the early afternoon at the flea market (photos coming soon), I suggested to my boyfriend that we take a drive down to the Black Hammok to catch an airboat ride (I've never been). Not only did we have a blast on the boat (those things can go FAST!) but we got a surprise visit from a baby gator (that came extremely close), enjoyed cold beers on the deck and took in an amazing sunset. What did you guys do yesterday?

Happy Monday!

  1. I had a lovely quiet weekend! Spent my sunday reading a play, watching my boyfriend try to finish Ocarina of Time, and then some pumpkin carving with pumpkin beer! Totally feeling halloween right now, and it's not just the dropping temperatures (but that certainly plays a role).
That sunset looks so gorgeous, I really miss the sun setting so late in the evening! Argh, winter is coming!

  4. That looks so cool. Love the gator shots! I spent my weekend preparing for (and then cleaning up after) my daughter's birthday party. Fun but exhausting. :)

  6. Jeanne, go for it!!! I know you will love it! There wasn't a lot of photo opps due to taking a ride later in the day (and the boat can go pretty fast so it's hard to focus) but we still got to see a few bald eagles, lot's of cranes, etc - a 10 ft gator resting (I didn't post the photos - not the best shots) and all around gorgeous Florida nature.

  7. Those pics look like somewhere near me. We went airboat riding at Black Hammock a couple of years ago. Hope you enjoyed your day in the swamps. :)

  8. How much FUN!!! I went to a wedding in the summer that had scenery just like this, and I thought it was so gorgeous. My gosh, I'd be hiding behind everyone with a baby gator anywhere near.
